Uruguay, ta
El otro lado de la Plata... On the other side of la Plata

Gallegos are famous for their homesicknesses and the proud of their land, but thats nothing compared to the love of the uruguayan for his own country. Is it the influence of the galician people that came to this country back in the 30s and 40s? I arrived to Uruguay yesterday by boat socalled buquebus, which is an acuatic bus and the cheapest way to come from Bs. Aires. After a short walk aroung Colonia del Sacramento, amazingly beautiful coast village 200 kms aways from Montevideo, I arrived to Montevideo where I kept on meeting part of the family. I have family in more countries in South America that I ever thought of. Montevideo is very small, specially compared to the big city of Bs As. Uruguayans had an extension coming out of their hands, a carrier for their hot water and a mate and the herbs +this is the typical drink in this part of the world+ They can sometimes drink up to 2ls of mate per day and at the Universitiy, they are not allowed to take any drinks into the classes apart from mate. Uruguayans donçt say vos, not at least in the percentage that argentineans do, they say tu, but they keep the verb tense for vos: tu sabes. And, of course, they use ta. It would be something like the spanish vale, vale. But this one has several uses and meanings that can change depending on the setence, etc... Tomorrow I will go for a walk by the seafront. Hopefully it will be sunny as the weather is changing. Also on Saturday we are planning to go to Punta del Este, similar to the spanish Marbellas, for SouthAmerica, as the spanish version overcrowded. Uruguay is the Southamerican Switzerland, so to speak, the dreamt paradise for people with money that just want to put it away and not to be asked many questions. If you are looking for something similar, come and visit. The old part of the city has many amazing buildings. Same that is quite dirgy and most of them need some help as are really old and in bad conditions. The main dish here is meat, of course. People in Montevideo is more chilled out that in Bs As, may have to do with the size of the city as well.
